Resumo: This work has made a study on the trajectory of Associação dos Amigos do meio Ambiente do Município de Gravata - AMA -Gravatá Pernambuco, the objectives of deployment of Local Development, among family farmers in the brejo council. For this purpose we chose to investigate the influence of this association in changing design practices of environmental preservation in the community of São Severino also in Gravatá. The specific objectives were compared to results obtained by farmers with organic production in relation to the practices of conventional agriculture. We also analyze the role of AMA promoting environmental education and especially in relations with the people who attend the fairs in the areas of Ecological marketing / Agroecologics. We analyze further the influence of AMA for local development in the community focused. This research is characterized as a case study. As a search tool we used: direct observation, diary, interviews and documentary analysis. Seventeen people were interviewed between farmers. The results showed that the experience of the association under study is emblematic in order to give visibility to a successful experiment where it was possible to prove the promotion of sustainable rural development with emphasis on endogenous development, agroecologics principles throughout the production chain, including the associativist practice of educational processes and local development. These ideas are precepts including the new proposed of the National Policy of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension of Brazil. What makes us conclude that from what happens in the AMA-Gravatá is the real possibility of a different practice in search of a new model of development and probably a just and socially society
