Resumo: |
Our research and historical reflection is about male homosexuality in the city of Recife in the 1970s. For us, the gay character was a naturalized invented and placed into the "forever". Throughout history the relationship between same-sex varied in how they were conceived, spoken and lived. And even in the period treated here, not every homosexual fit the "standard" gay. We will see that the gay was indeed a novelty in Recife. It is so much that sometimes the newspapers used the term in quotes or in Portuguese: gay. During this period, the word gay had a very strong political weight, because the translation literally means "cheerful", "happy" and "festive" building a new subjectivity. Thus, had a direct opposition to disqualifiers adjectives like "fag" "queer," "sissy," "doll", etc.We also examined the association between the emergence of the gay and the ideal of modernity and consumption where the opening of clubs, for example, appeared as one of the ideal places for new representation. In the process in which discourses and practices wove the new homosexual identity, the work of social movements in the consumer market and the press was critical. |
