Resumo: |
The main purpose of this study is to analyze the contributions that the Appreciative Inquiry (AI) can bring to the implementation of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) in a Federal Public Institution of Higher Education - IFES. Therefore, from the application of the AI approach, we has explored the relevant factors, possibilities and benefits of implementing an ERM, especially considering public universities peculiarities. In the theoretical fundamentals, studies have done in corporate governance, including studies on ERM, besides in AI application, that is founded on socioconstrucionism and focus on positivity in order to promote organizational changes. As a research strategy, is has chosen a qualitative study of an instrumental case applied to the Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco, located in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco. Data collection and analysis took place through workshops as preconized by the AI 5-D model (Definition, Discovery, Dream, Design and Destiny). As a result of the appreciative cycle accomplishment, steps 1-D to 4-D, it has verified that AI is an approach capable to generate knowledge and produce a innovation and change process that addresses the most relevant aspects involved in the implementation of ERM in the context of an IFES. Thus, we defined a focus for the change to be promoted as well as it has identified and evaluated the fundamentals factors to set up an effective ERM, in addition to trace its possibilities, desired characteristics and possible benefits. It was concluded, for the studied case, that an appropriate ERM is one that is frequently and appropriately evaluated, based on collectively agreed principles, and one that is recognized as a dynamic, flexible, adaptive, including and participatory process. Thereby, it is expected to get more and more significant improvements, in a continuous base through the stimulus initiatives and the promotion of creativity and knowledge sharing, aiming enhance its efficiency and effectiveness. As benefits, it is expected that this ERM will increase UFRPEs operational performance and strength, in addition to improve its services quality and to leverage its strategic and process management. |
