Resumo: In order to reflect on the relationship between rap, hip hop practices and education, the research consists, fundamentally, on mythcriticism analysis (symbolic, mythical and archetypal) analysis of rap lyrics by DJ Preto El, Artist who had a formative experience in the House of hip hop of the city of Diadema / SP. Our proposal is based on the assumption that rap is not only a musical genre, but as an artistic element of the hip hop cultural movement, it is a significant symptom mythical present in our time, as well as any genuine and consistent artistic movement. Based on Gilbert Durand's General Theory of Imaginary and his method Mythcriticism, which seeks to study in depth the imaginary of cultural productions, wich proposed to raise and identify the ideals (the set of ideas-forces) and the imaginary (mythical redundancies, mythems, mythologems, directors myths and image regimes) subsumed in these songs. And, based on the theoretical proposals of a "re-education of the imaginary" and the symbolic subsidies of the mythcriticismpresent in the lyrics , our objetive was to show the potentialities of rap as a phatic formative experience, whose symbolic universe can contribute to a "rebalancing" the Pedagogical imaginary and educational practices.
