This research aims to understand how the young residents of the city of Diadema, São Paulo, identify themselves nowadays with the Hip Hop movement. In the 1990s hip hop had strong repercussions among the youth people of this city, especially with the rise of the House of hip hop of Diadema, in 1999. More than fifteen years later and after many changes and difficulties, the movement is still part of the life of some young residents of Diadema. In this sense, it is intended to be analyzed, from the perspective of these young people, as the hip hop movement fits into the life context and it is shared by them. The research will focus on the House of Hip Hop of Diadema and in the weekly event called Battle Center, both located in the city of Diadema, state of São Paulo.
