Resumo: |
This work will analyze the discourses and inequalities involved in the energy transition, which is presented as a technical and apolitical solution to the climate crisis. To achieve this goal, the environmental conflicts of the mapping of mining impacts for the energy transition by EJAtlas will be analyzed. These cases involve “strategic” metal and mineral mining projects that aim to support the global energy transition. The analysis will be performed by using the perspective of Political Ecology in its Latin American aspect, and the aim is to broaden the debate on the concept of climate justice, analyzing and discussing this concept based on environmental conflicts. The focus of the work will be Latin America, a strategic region due to its mineral wealth and recognized for its various conflicts arising from extractive exploration. It is expected that this research will contribute to a better understanding of the power dynamics involved in the energy transition, as well as to the promotion of a broader discussion on climate justice, which is able to encompass the socio-environmental injustices existing in extractive processes |
