Resumo: The worldwide concern about protection of the environment and its resources keeps growing every day. In addition to occasional events (Water Day, Tree Day, etc.), efforts of environmentalists and media participation, the school emerges as a major ally in this process, with the comprehensive proposal of linking education to a real environmental conscience, proposing solutions and measures to everyday problems. This study aims to draw up a general program of environmental education at a private school in the city of Curitiba, with the intention of qualifying educators and sensitizing students to the issues of environment so that, from a new degree of consciousness, they become multipliers at school and in their social living together group. The survey of environmental perception, the level of knowledge and awareness of students and teachers of Positivo Jardim Ambiental High school with regard to local aspects was accomplished through the model Anis (Analysis of Socio Educational Needs Intervention), and the development and implementation of structured questionnaires was the initial step. The proposal was designed based on the diagnosis of the current situation confronted with the desired situation, and was formalized after analysis of other available data collected on the spot, considering all the factors that may influence the success of intervention actions. The results demonstrated the need for effective implementation of the program developed, focusing on core diagnostic needs, seeking the change of attitude and habits within the school community .Implementing an environmental education project will enable students and teachers to understanding the existing issues, the human presence in the environment, their responsibility and critical role as citizens
