The problem of the research arose from the concerning at knowing how knowledge management practices were organized in big companies in Campos Gerais region, state of Paraná. From this point, it was defined the general objective of the research that was to characterize management practices related to existent knowledge management in the researched companies. For this, a diagnosis about the existence of the knowledge management practices in the companies of the region was undertaken, in order to know the actual scenery about knowledge management in the main companies, to place these companies in relation to the use of the main knowledge management practices and to identify knowledge management practices clusters. Big companies were chosen, as they are more possible to use knowledge management practices. Regarding to methodology, the research was classified as: due to objectives, field and exploratory research, of applied nature, with quantitative approach; due to technical procedures is classified as survey. The sample with nine companies of the region was no-probabilistic and by accessibility. The technique used for its realization was a structured question form composed by 67 questions, in which the Likert scale was used. The question form was answered by a number of 18 professionals in charge of Production Department, Human Resources and Information Systems. Results make possible to state that, according to the implantation phases in the companies, researched knowledge management practices can be grouped in three types: consolidated practices, like Normalization and Standardization and Institutional Communication practices; practices in way of consolidation, like Corporative Education and Process Mapping; and low consolidated practices, like Mentoring and Communities of Practice. It was brought to a conclusion that, like what has been generally happening, in the researched companies knowledge management has been gradually assimilated, and the different levels of knowledge management practices implantation show this gradual evolution.
