Resumo: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of replacing Tifton by maniçoba hay on intake, digestibility and intake behavior in sheep. They used eight sheep cannulated in the rumen and with average weight of 53.17 ± 8.33 kg in Latin square design 4 x 4. Treatments consisted in the substitution of Tifton hay for hay maniçoba levels of 0.0, 33.33, 66.66 and 100%. The voluntary intake of DM and nutrients from the diet were calculated by the difference between the amounts offered and leftovers for the previous day. During the collection period (1st to 3rd day) was evaluated ingestive behavior and the ingredients that made up the diets, orts and feces were sampled to evaluate the apparent digestibility assay. Increased linearly (P <0.05) for consumption of ADF, EE and NFC. The digestibilities of NDF and CP have a decreasing linear effect as it increased the levels of replacement diets. The feed time and feed efficiency showed a quadratic effect (P <0.05). Replacement of Tifton hay for maniçoba in diets reduces the use of fiber and increases the time ruminating on the type of fiber that forage.
