Resumo: Looking at the production/didactic organization of Sérgio Buarque de Holanda, an author of relevance in both the field of History and Education, allows us to raise elements to understand the thought, life and work of a historian who was not only a reference in academic and intellectual production throughout the twentieth century, as well as contributed greatly to the formation of historical thinking of Brazilian teachers and students, especially between the 1970s and 1990s. In this direction, this research sought to understand the author's conception of History from the textbooks of his co-authorship. Thus, it was studied about the author's life, formation and aspirations regarding his historical, political and social context in order to highlight the theoretical and historical influences exerted on him, as well as to explain his reading about the Brazilian past and their perspectives on the possibilities of historical development. For this, we took as object of study the three textbooks of History of the Coleção Sérgio Buarque de Hollanda, observing their theoreticalmethodological composition, its graphic format and the authors that dealt with them. In addition to the analysis of textbooks, other Buarquean works served as support, as well as interpreters of Theory of History to understand the basis of the historiographical thinking of Sérgio Buarque de Holanda. In this respect, we came to Max Weber's thinking as well as the methodological apparatus of the Annales School, verifying what were his influences on the Brazilian historian. In this resumption, it was noticed that Holanda based on the Annales to raise sources and themes for their books and on Weber regarding their historical perspective of forming the rational-legal political consensus for the development of society. Thus, it is possible to consider the didactic material an important historical document that makes it possible to find evidence about the author's thinking and the studied period, and may also offer clues for us to reflect on the formation of the historical consciousness of students of that time
