This work is the result of a research about the functioning of the journalistic discourse of the virtual information portal Central Gazeta de Notícias (CGN) on transvestites in Cascavel, Paraná. The corpus of the research is related to news published in the period between 2012 to 2016. The starting point was the launch of Resolution SESA 188 of March 10, 2010, which provides the inclusion of the social name of transsexual and transvestite people in administrative documents in the state of Paraná. What motivated us was the concern of the effects of meaning produced by CGN. In this sense, the main objective was to analyze discursive formations, ideological formations and imaginary formations on transvestites in CGN discourse. For this research, were mobilized the theoretical assumptions of the Discourse Analysis of French orientation, based on Pêcheux. The analyzed meanings relegate the transvestite to a marginal and marginalized position, close to criminality and with its identity not always respected and/or understood by the information portal. Also in this research, we analyze how CGN brings in its discourse the social name of transvestites.
