Resumo: Aiming to do an information survey in order to obtain data on the National diseases notification system (SINAN), Exogenous intoxication / pesticides, as well as the understanding of the concept and the relevance of bioethics in this context, part of the healthcare and nursing professionals, this doctorate thesis brings results of a quali-quantitative field research, carried out with nursing professionals from the Unidades Básicas de Saúde e Unidades de Pronto Atendimento da 20ª Regional de Saúde de Toledo – PR. This study sought to verify data on the use of pesticides, reported cases of poisoning by pesticides, and the work of the Health Surveillance of populations exposed to pesticides in Paraná and Região Oeste do Estado. Through questionnaire, quantitative information about the National diseases notification system (SINAN) no Oeste do Paraná has been collected, and it has also been sought to assess the understanding of the concepts of bioethics in sustainable development, by the nursing workers of the 20ª Regional de Saúde de Toledo – PR. Being pesticides a public health problem and the agricultural production in the state of Paraná one of the biggest consumers, registering a high rate of intoxications and notifications, we questioned about the contribution of bioethics, as a new interdisciplinary science to the sustainable rural development. Still, in this context, if health professionals, especially those in nursing, responsible for the initial care in the Unidades Básicas de Saúde da Região da 20ª Regional de Saúde de Toledo – PR, have a proper understanding since their training on the bioethical issues involved in concern of intoxications and the abusive use of pesticides in agricultural production and, how often they register cases of pesticide poisoning in the National diseases notification system / - SINAN (endogenous intoxication investigation form). The present research has as general objective to research the contributions of bioethics to the search for a sustainable rural development in a context of excessive use of pesticides in the production of food and in coping with the aggravations caused by exogenous intoxications. It is necessary an update in health by the nursing professionals when it comes to fill in the current SINAN form and it is agreed to create an exclusive SINAN document for notification of poisoning by pesticides. Bioethical discussions related to pesticides occur, albeit insignificantly, during the qualification of these professionals. We conclude that there is a lack of theoretical support and proper standardization in the health area, which foment the unexperienced, negligent and even imprudent professional exercise, the results of which can generate damage to the clientele, as well as legal and ethical problems to the health professionals.
