The concept of infinity is related to other math concepts. It is considered basic to the development of some processes related to the calculation and analysis, such as: length of curves, area, volume, as well as in the development of other concepts such as limit, derivative and integral that form the basis of calculation in several courses in Brazilian and foreign universities. With these perspectives the research seeks to identify the notions that are related to the concept of infinity and contribute to its significance, are present, and how, in the didactic materials commonly used in public basic education schools in Rio de Janeiro, in especially in high school. For this purpose, after the construction of literature review on the topic in question, selected and analyzed two educational productions approved in the National Textbook High School Program. The data allowed us to verify the scarcity of these notions in studies and teaching materials oriented to basic education, and led to the need to draw up a set of activities and texts aimed at the issue at hand that make up our educational product. The main objective of our proposal is to contribute to increase the quality of teaching / learning process of basic education on the study of concepts involving the infinite, becoming source of information and deepening of several topics related to the theme. |
