Brecht, nosso contemporâneo? O engajamento como prática intelectual e como opção artística da Companhia do Latão

Resumo: This thesis has for objective discuss the aspects that involve the present of Bertolt Brecht and the dramatic engagement through the work developed by the Companhia do Latão, dramatic group founded in São Paulo city in 1996, by the direction of Sérgio de Carvalho. So, we try to understand how the engagement theme passed for variation through the time, turning to an important element of different intellectual reflections, according to the social and political transformations occurred during the XX century. Moreover, we think these themes related to the Brazilian dramatic production of the last years, with the objective of notice how the reception of the Brecht s engaged theater in Brazil passed for various transformations, due to our specific historic condition. Then, we return our analysis for the weight of important Brazilian intellectuals to understand the brechtianas formulations and how these intellectuals had been read and discussed for the Companhia do Latão. After this course, we treated about the work developed for the paulistano dramatic group, through the thematic analysis of their plays. The interchange between artistic production, reflection about Brazilian politic and social questions from the last years, intellectual debate and formal results related to the productions of Latão plays is the focus of this discussion. In the general, this thesis starts from the inquiry of Brecht present and, of course the engaged theater, showing its course in Brazil and, so, clearing the space that the Companhia do Latão, for realize its work based by the epic-dialectic theater, takes up in the contemporary Brazilian dramatic scenery.
