Resumo: The interest pursued in this work was to investigate the violent marital bond seeking to apprehend the affectional dynamics of the marital bond and how it is constituted and maintained. Apart from that the work analyses the existing relationship between love and violence as well as the couples strategies to face the lived violence. The theoretical perspectives aligned in this work are the Psychoanalysis, the Relational Psychoanalysis and the Psycho-social Studies. The research is based on a psychoanalytical approach, interpretative in it\'s turn, of the violent marital bond. Although regarding the Human Rights issues and the Gender Studies perspectives, this work assumes that marital violence is built within the bond. Three couples were interviewed, all of them users of an NGO\'s services which works with intrafamily violence, especially marital violence. The interviews were recorded and transcribed. The analysis of such interviews have suggested that apart from the gender perspective, it is important to consider the affectional dynamic in the marital bond. Each couple have presented a particular bond dynamics entrenched by unconscious issues existing since the constitution of the bond. It was observed that the partners, both men and women, were implicated in the development of the violent marital bonds, which includes unconscious elements such as: the constitution of the bond and the love partner choice, the transgenerationality and the repetitions deriving from the family inheritance, the narcissism and the helplessness. These are some of the elements that constituted the love-violence history of these couples.
