Resumo: | This work analyses some symbols and myths found in Central American contemporary poetry. We use the myth critical method, outlining the contributions in this field of authors like Durand, Eliade and Bachelard in order to study some of the poets included in Puertas abiertas: Antología de poesía centroamericana. The mythical and literary history path, presented in chapter one, focuses on discussing the current meaning of the Central American imaginary . This discussion allows us to understand how poetry is, in fact, a source that keeps collective memories. In the second chapter, it is outlined the syncretism that characterizes societies from Central America. Nevertheless, we point out that the Central America societies‟ cultural blending is characterized by shared historical bases which makes that the poets from different countries a cohesive group. If the Central American territory is distinguished by cultural mixtures and overlaps, it was necessary to understand how the meaning of Mother Land was perceived in the contemporary poetry. The analyses done to the poems of Jorge Galán and Javier Payeras present two different visions upon Mother Land. We conclude that the Central American imaginary is very complex, but this work proposes a myth critical approach about contemporary poetry that can be used to develop new researches about the same topic and study field. |
