This research entitled Senses on the sign tenth in Universal News aims at investigating senses which mean the sign tenth when it occurs in news in the section Oh God, do not forget I am a faithful tenth follower , in Universal News . A theoretical reflection, inscribed in the framework of Michel Pêcheux s discourse analysis and in a dialogical relation to Mikhail Bakhtin s language philosophy, was formulated from an exam of a corpus, constituted by reports from followers of God Kingdom Universal Church , given to the weekly Universal News . In such reports, followers enounce their life problems (debts, diseases) before sticking to Universal Church and declare their loyalty to payment of tenth. After enouncing their difficulties, having adhered to Universal Church and pay tenth, such attitude is a discursive happening which provokes several economic-capitalist benefits. Such study was developed considering two branches of approach: a macro-instance which describes production conditions from such reports, searching for historical features, social ethos, as well as, install enunciative situations and a micro-instance in which meaning potentials have been focalized, scanning articles from Universal News . For such procedure, it was used a matrix and axiomatic methodological devices. Thus, it was identified interdiscursive crossings (other discourses) heterogeneously linked to articles in the section in study. In the same way, it was examined senses which are produced from the impingement between economic-capitalist and religious discursivities.
