The present paper appmaches the study of the urban visual and the valorization of the identity of Vila Belga's community from Santa Maria and its habitational conjunct for their irnportance as Historical Patrimony of the state, searching for this patrimony conceptions through the non-formal education and the development of an alternative space of pmducton and education in visual arb by the printworks design's perspective analyzing the possibilities of a changing process of Santa Maria in to an educanting city. Thus, the quantiative/qualitative was the chosen approach through a case study where we have tried to understand thequestions regarding the delimitation of the study which embraces the residents of the Vila Belga community totaling four students. The data collection was developed through the semistructured inte~iewst,h e field diary, a document refemng to the register of the daily moments of the research. According to the concepts of educating city which sees the city not only as a physical space to live and to work but also as a reflections place around the educative aspects in formal and nonformal spaces allowing the citizen to learn in and with the city, the informal knowledge generated in the urban daily environment is also knowledge about the environment itself (GADOTTI, PADILHA, CABEZUDO, (2004); GADOTTi, GUTIERREZ, (2001); ZAINKO, (1997)). We have verified within the non-formal educative the production of the daily knowledge assimilated and incorporated as local culture. The relations of identity with the Vila Belga Pairimony have been observed throug the childhood, work, and social life of the students with the place. Along the works development, we have obse~eda new conception of the patrimony as a whole belonging to the community of Santa Maria. The new urban visual hás been showed through the elements such as roofs, sidewalks and electric threads, full of meanings ans experientes present in the prints produce by the students. The research h8s emphasized the irnportance of the alternative spaces opening in the communities for the accomplishment of cultural projects for the community developing cooperation production and leaning relations mediated by public government which must to provide these spaces with eqipments, material, and people reinforcing the possibilities for na educanting city.
