Resumo: The Educating City, by definition, is one that assumes the intention of promoting the integral formation of its citizens, being a city project originated in the light of the Charter of Educating Cities of Barcelona in 1990, which is managed by the International Association of Educating Cities (AICE). As my object of study, this city project seeks to dialogue with the municipality in which I have lived for more than half a century, Caieiras-SP, which has educational potential, being a promising debate in an era guided by an education fragmented by the systematic process of Formal school education, which often does not prove to be adequate for the integral formation of citizens. Therefore, this thesis has the general objective of verifying whether the Cidade Educadora project meets the educational potential of the municipality of Caieiras, which goes beyond the school walls, providing formal, non-formal and informal education through social projects. Seeking to base the research, this work found answers, mainly, in famous thinkers such as Sofia Cavalletti (1985) and Maria da Glória Gohn (2016; 2006), Tomás de Aquino (1999), Jacques Maritain (1945), Werner Jaeger (2013) and Victor Sales Pinheiros (2021), just as the search for inspiration in Classical Greece (5th and 4th centuries BC) was important, with Plato (1997) and Aristotle (2017), great classical masters who were even referenced center in the famous painting by Rafael Sanzio: The School of Athens (1509-1510). From this historical-philosophical point of view, the human virtues sought in the Educating City are still present in everyday life, as is the case of the municipality of Caieiras, a city with an immense pedagogical heritage, which empirically holds both formal and formal educational potential. as non-formal and informal. The dialogue based on these authors and their suggestions for education needs to be seen as up-to-date and stimulating, as it is born from the lack of human training, which is shown in the citizens' customs regarding the treatment of public affairs, leading to an understanding if the ideal of this city model would not be the possibility of a consistent theoretical foundation for the formation of a society that can form ethically virtuous citizens, formed in a space that educates, as the ancient Greeks well remember, since they are the first to develop an idealized virtuous feeling through education. This knowledge, so to speak, can be represented in Caieiras as a means of human formation based on values such as morals and ethics, in which the citizen, from this, will seek to fully develop. The methodology adopted here follows a hermeneutic research, bibliographical and documental, with a qualitative approach. Furthermore, from the perspective of the documents that guide the Educating City, as well as the Classical School of Athens, added to the analysis of data collected in the strategic public and formal educational institution of Caieiras, the centenary Escola Estadual Otto Weiszflog, in addition to the Patris Project – Casa do Pai and Catequese Bom Pastor – both based on both informal and non-formal teaching –, we intend to seek theoretical support for this work in question.
