Resumo: The present work aims to analyze the political and professional trajectory of José de Carvalho Déda, based on the analysis of the journalistic speeches of the weekly (Withdraw - in print) A Semana de (1946-1969). For this, (Withdraw - For this reason) a study of political and ideological nature was developed in this press, produced in the city of Simão Dias, in the state of Sergipe, as well as seeking information in its memoirs published in the form of books and in its political speeches. For the newspaper;s organizers, communism was contrary to its principles and from there they came out in defense of the Catholic Church's position against the socalled “atheists and anti- Christians”. The political line of A Semana brings traces of the conservatism of the time, while outlining a humanist proposal in defense of the most humble population. So, this emblematic journalist, politician and practical lawyer (rábula), from the civil and criminal area, appropriated an anti-communist and Christian discourse in the politicalpartisan clashes of the time, even assuming the position of deputy for three consecutive legislature in the State Legislative Assembly (1947-1950; 1951-1954; 1955-1958), and also came out in defense of the so-called “1964 Revolution”, having always put itself in defense of the people. Thus, the methodology applied in this research was that of discourse analysis, in the journalistic case, which is aligned with a perspective that seeks to understand the text from the symbolic and social fields of the issuing subject. The main documentation analyzed was the tabloid-sized periodical A Semana, founded and edited by Carvalho Déda. military. During this last phase, there were changes in the direction of the newspaper, as well as the institution of censorship and political persecution in the country, in that context a more progressive turn was noticed in the newspaper that was in force until its end in 1969.
