Resumo: The present research identifies the interrelationships between Gender Violence and Coloniality in Latin America, taking as a key analysis the sentence of the Márcia Barbosa de Souza case proposed before the Inter-American System of Human Rights. For that, the concepts of Coloniality of Gender, by Maria Lugones, and the studies on violence brought by Maria Rita Segato are keys to reading. It is, therefore, about analyzing the connection between gender violence and coloniality, examining how colonial structures affect women's lives and contribute to the perpetuation of gender violence. By doing this, it is expected to contribute to the understanding of the complexity of gender violence and to, from the understanding of the phenomenon, contribute to reflections for the promotion of effective solutions to this problem. In order to reach the proposed objective, the research used the inductive approach method, since, starting from a particular case, it aimed to prove an existing reality. As a method of procedure, bibliographical and documentary research was used, especially through the analysis of documents referring to the processing of the Márcia Barbosa de Souza case in the Inter-American System of Human Rights. The study was divided into three chapters: The first analyzed the concepts of gender and coloniality, bringing definitions about the colonization process in Latin America and its influence on the creation of a general culture of violence, hierarchization and domination. The second chapter, in turn, presented the logic of Human Rights in Latin America through the exposure of the process of consolidation of women's rights in the Inter-American System of Human Rights. Finally, the third chapter dealt specifically with the research object, bringing the case of Márcia Barbosa de Souza in detail, associating it with the concepts presented. In the end, it was proven that the aforementioned case exemplifies a reality of violence and domination of female bodies that occurs in a particular way in Latin America, reflecting the influence of colonial structures of domination that remain until today.
