The teaching, research and extension tripod supports actions carried out by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), regardless of whether the context is public or private. Authors such as Santos and Almeida Filho (2012) highlight the existence of a fourth university dimension: internationalization. In order to be able to analyze the way in which universities become internationalized, a preliminary study on what internationalization is and the ways in which it can be perceived in the institution is necessary. Given the above, this research aims to investigate the internationalization processes developed at the Federal University of Sergipe, with special attention being dedicated to the analysis of the Linguistic Policy instituted by Resolution Nº 35/2018/CONEPE, which was developed in order to cover the entire academic community. There is no way to think about internationalization without an analysis of the linguistic policy(ies) being carried out. This study relating internationalization and language policy can also be justified by the need to investigate the paths taken by the HEI so that it occupied prominent positions in the current scenario at national and international level. This agenda, therefore, is of great importance for maintaining and increasing the good results achieved, in addition to helping to identify possible actions that can contribute to making the current policy more attractive, noting how much it can be beneficial to the institution and the community in which it is inserted. Methodologically, this is research based on a qualitative, exploratory approach, with a descriptive method, using bibliographic and documentary studies as means of data collection, as it details the UFS case and investigates internationalization actions. established in this specific context. The literature review brings concepts about internationalization, language policy and planning and the international ranking system, based on contributions from theorists such as Calvet (2007), De Wit (2020), Knight (2020), Morosini (2019), Stallivieri ( 2017, 2019), among others that address these themes. As preliminary results, we can prove the importance of establishing comprehensive internationalization practices, which highlight the role of internationalization at home, so that it is possible to include the entire academic community in the search for the establishment of an international and intercultural posture in the activities developed. It is also possible to perceive that, even though it was a step forward, the UFS linguistic policy still needs adjustments, in order to better guide the actions of foreign/additional languages, and better insert them in the internationalization plans. |
