Resumo: The terminology "knowledge society" present in the conception of the Program for Exchange and Student Mobility Ciência sem Fronteiras (CsF) is anchored in the idea of knowledge as the main productive force of society in force in this 21st century. The question we pose is: under what theoretical-ideological perspective is the idea of knowledge present in the CsF based? For this understanding we seek to understand how the work category has been appropriated by the theories of immaterial work as a way of supporting the "knowledge economy", according to which knowledge becomes the main productive force, which can not be appropriate, thus overcoming capitalist exploitation and appropriation. In these terms, we analyze the practical implications of this ideology in the social relations context, especially in the public policy area, such as the Ciência sem Fronteiras Program. For this, we delimit the concept of ideology - based on Mészáros (2004) -, as a specific form of social consciousness, materially anchored and sustained with far-reaching practical implications. Next, we discuss the context of the manifestation of theses of immaterial labor, which aim to justify the transformations in the world of work resulting from the process of productive restructuring, from the 1970s onwards, and then to enter into the theories of immaterial labor, ideology Knowledge, consequences in education, and finally in the practical manifestations of the ideology of knowledge as the main productive force in the Ciência sem Fronteiras Program. For the development of the research was performed documentary analysis, specifically Decree 7,642 of 2011, which establishes the CsF; survey and bibliographic review, collection of secondary data and application of interviews with students of a public university, participants of the Program in the period from 2012 to 2014. We conclude that the idea of a "knowledge economy" has practical implications within the society, and in this sense, we analyze the CsF as a result of political and economic orientations, situated in the context of the ideology of the "knowledge society" whose theoretical ideological base is found in the relation between ideology and labor in the capitalist mode of production.
