Resumo: | The first months of life of the child are crucial when it comes to child nutrition, and breast milk is considered the most complete food for the newborn (NB). In Brazil, although we did see an increase in the prevalence of breastfeeding (AM) in recent years, is still down the recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). Primary and secondary supportive social networks are important influences for the proper maintenance of breastfeeding. The primary network includes family members, close relatives, and the child's father; the secondary comprises health professionals. This research aims to analyze the performance of the FHS within the secondary support network for EBF in the first six months of the child's life. This is a qualitative, exploratory-descriptive study. Semi-structured interviews will be conducted with health professionals and Community Health Agents, from the FHS of Alagoa Grande - PB. The interviews was be recorded in MP4 player, transcribed and analyzed by the technique of analysis thematic, in the light of the interpretativist theoretical framework. There are still many challenges to be faced in order to get effective support for breastfeeding women within the FHS, and there is a need for changes in the work process in the FHS, seeking to circumvent the limitations and weaknesses existents. The FHS professionals are central actors in supporting women for EBF in the first six months of the child's life, contributing to the maintenance of the appropriate period, and reaffirming the need for team action through interprofessional work. It´s very important that the professional understand of their role in the Support Network, as well as the reorientation of the approaches used, to if can make progress in this scenario. |
