Resumo: | Objective: To explore the scientific production on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of elderly people with stroke sequelae. Method: The research has two review studies carried out based on searches in the MEDLINE (PubMed) and CINAHL (via EBSCO) databases, using descriptors included in the DeCS and MeSH directories, according to the guiding questions, from August to October 2020. We included articles that addressed the assessment of the Quality of Life (QOL) of elderly people with stroke sequelae, indexed in the databases selected for the study, published between 2010 and 2020, in English, Portuguese and Spanish and studies that used validated instruments to measure HRQOL. The review corpus included 22 articles. The first article aimed to summarize the predictors of improvement or worsening of HRQOL in elderly people with stroke sequelae. The methodological path followed the steps recommended for an integrative literature review. Results: We highlighted 16 (73%) studies that showed worse predictors and six articles (27%) with better predictors of HRQOL in this population. In nine articles (56%), the authors mentioned that the worst QOL was due to depression and anxiety. In the best predictor, five (83%) authors brought adherence to treatment and one (17%) to social support. The second article aimed to map the main instruments for assessing HRQQL in elderly people with stroke sequelae. From the methodological point of view, we followed the steps recommended for scope review. Results: The generic instruments identified were EQ-5D, in eight (35%) studies, SF-36, in two (7%), and RAND-36, in two (7%). We also found IQV, WHOQOL-BREF, and SF-12 once (4%) in each study. The specific instruments highlighted were SAQOL-39 and SS-QOL in three (14%) studies, respectively; and NEURO-QOL, in two (9%). Conclusions: the first study showed that knowing the predictors allows implementing more targeted and safe care for the elderly population. In the second study, the use of generic instruments enables a multidimensional assessment and with the use of specific instruments, it was possible to identify important health problems related to the disease and determinants to guide care practice. |
