Resumo: This study aimed to discuss the reception of Poemas (1947), the first poetry book by Joaquim Cardozo, in the Diário de Pernambuco, in order to demonstrate the impact of the author's work in the region. To achieve this, it was necessary to provide a contextualization of the press and literature in Pernambuco. The first chapter focuses on presenting an overview of the interaction between Joaquim Cardozo and Diário de Pernambuco, providing insights into the newspaper's role in promoting the poet. The second chapter specifically discusses Poemas (1947), highlighting the collaborators of the work and its readers. Lastly, four studies published in the journal during the 1940s, written by Paulo Mendes Campos, Mauro Mota, Olívio Montenegro, and Jorge de Lima, are selected for analysis. By examining the historical, social, and cultural context of the region, a trajectory of the studies published in the Diário de Pernambuco is traced, allowing for an understanding of the significance of the materials published in the newspaper for the poet's recognition. It is concluded that Diário accompanied Joaquim Cardozo through different phases of his various activities and contributed to the acknowledgement and dissemination of Cardozo's poetry in the literary scene.
