Resumo: The present research seeks to understand the poetic procedures through which Joaquim Cardozo modulates his lyrical subjectivity in his depictions of the cashew, and how this reveals the originality of his poems. To achieve this, focusing on his early lyrical compositions published in the book "Poemas" (1947), the objectives outlined were: 1) Explore the various literary, cultural, and artistic nuances related to the presence of the cashew in Brazilian literature and visual arts. 2) Understand how Joaquim Cardozo uses the image of the cashew to address regional issues and how such a choice implies a proposal on the subject within an authorial aesthetic construction. Thirdly, the aim is to discuss the complexity of amorous lyricism in Joaquim Cardozo's poetry, seeking to understand how Cardozo uses the image of the cashew to poetically discuss the sentiment of love. The theoretical framework collected for this research focuses on the studies by Gilberto Freyre (1996), Antônio Dimas (1996), Souza Barros (1972), Fernando Py (1942), Houaiss (1976), Octávio Paz (1996), with the intention of understanding one of the ways this poet represented the Pernambuco region.
