Resumo: The world has been facing a pandemic process caused by a virus called the Sars-cov-2 coronavirus, which causes a disease known as covid-19, with high transmissibility and wide ranging symptoms that go from a common cold to severe pneumonia. Because it is transmitted mainly by physical contact, saliva, sneezing, and coughing, the World Health Organization advises for physical isolation, and as far as the educational field is concerned, it has caused the closure of classes in schools and universities. Thus, it is important to know the intensity that the current pandemic situation has affected the teachers' social and personal relationships. This study aimed to analyze the influence of the fear of covid-19 on the health related quality of life of higher education teachers in the city of João Pessoa-PB; Presenting a methodological approach of the quantitative, descriptive and exploratory type. The research was conducted in the municipality of João Pessoa-PB, with a sample composed of 279 working higher education teachers from the public network. The data collection instrument was a form that included sociodemographic questions; health questions regarding covid-19; quality of life scale (Whoqol-bref) and the fear scale of covid-19 (FCV-19S). The selected sample was analyzed through exploratory data analysis, structural equation modeling to validate the covid-19 fear scale, nonparametric tests to compare constructs according to public and private network, and multiple regression models to assess the significant constructs to explain teachers' quality of life during the pandemic. The results are presented in three sections: Sociodemographic profile of higher education faculty; Statistical validation of the covid -19 fear scale in higher education faculty; Quality of life of higher education faculty during the pandemic. The findings show that the teachers are facing a new situation in which the environmental aspects have a greater impact on quality of life since the teachers have adverse working conditions during this period, showing that there is poor quality of life, especially for teachers in the private education network who showed greater pressure due to the pandemic of covid-19.
