Resumo: | Modern organizations find themselves in a different global context from decades ago. In recent years, the emphasis and perception of value has shifted towards intangible assets such as knowledge and learning processes. At the same time, fire safety has acquired the status of a science and is becoming increasingly present in people's daily lives. In order to reconcile these two relevant themes, this study sought to analyze how the management of the Fire and Emergency Brigade training course at the Federal University of Paraíba contributes to the organizational learning process, identifying the mechanisms, challenges, practices and impacts of this management on continuous improvement and the development of competencies related to safety and emergency response at the institution. To this end, an exploratory and descriptive case study was carried out, using qualitative methods and focusing on participant observation. Interviews, questionnaires and document analysis were used to collect data. The method used to analyze the data was content analysis, based on Bardin (2016). The results found various elements of organizational learning in the management of UFPB's fire brigade training courses, such as processes of knowledge creation, acquisition and sharing. One of the impacts observed was an increase in the brigade members' perception of risk and their greater engagement in activities such as preventive inspections and requests to recharge fire extinguishers. Based on the results obtained from the research, a fire brigade training manual was developed for the Federal University of Paraíba as part of the research. It is concluded that this study has succeeded in establishing the relationship between two highly relevant themes such as organizational learning and fire safety, demonstrating the importance of learning processes for the management responsible for the course and for the participants in the training, as well as demonstrating the practices and mechanisms used and their impacts. It is hoped to be able to make a scientific contribution, given the academic gaps found with regard to studies on Fire Safety, motivating scientific production on the subject. It is also intended to contribute to other public or private institutions beyond the Federal University of Paraíba. |
