Resumo: The present work has as object of study the health and the environment of the balanced rural work, in the use of pesticides. Brazil has a chemical-dependent agricultural development model, where pesticides have been widely used in agriculture as a way to combat crop pests. The country, as a consequence of this model, has presented serious problems in its environment, reflecting directly on the health of the worker who performs his duties there. Therefore, it is necessary that the rural worker is not the victim of this process that defiles his health, and often against his own life. Objective - To analyze the relationship of the current agricultural model with the use of pesticides and their impacts on workers' health and the rural work environment; analyze the process of legal protection for workers' health and the work environment from the international perspective and Brazilian domestic law; to verify the performance of the social actors involved in the protection and effectiveness of the workers' right to health and the balanced rural work environment regarding the use of pesticides. M Methodology - The study was based on bibliographical, documentary and interviews with the following institutional actors: Public Labor Ministry in Mato Grosso/MPT, Labor Inspection, Federation and Agricultural Workers' Union in Mato Grosso and Reference Centers in Occupational Health / CEREST. Conclusions - The protection and promotion of the rights to the environment and the health of workers favor the realization of human dignity. Thus, the action of institutional actors in an articulated and interdisciplinary manner has contributed to the prevention of diseases and accidents, making effective the norms that refer to health and safety at work.
