Resumo: | Arthropod-borne hemoparasites infecting domestic felines have been considered emerging in veterinary and human medicine. Feline ehrlichiosis has been described in several regions of the world, but little is known about the species involved, transmission and pathogenesis of it. Another important hemoparasitosis is bartonellosis, which stands out because of its zoonotic nature. Domestic felids are considered the main reservoirs and carriers of Bartonella henselae, B. clarridgeiae and B. koehlerae, being the main vector, the flea Ctenocephalides felis. Some protozoa transmitted by arthropods such as Hepatozoon spp., Cytauxzoon spp., Babesia spp. Have also been described circulating in domestic felines in several countries. The objective of this study is to provide data on the etiological and epidemiological aspects of certain hemoparasitoses in domestic felines in the municipalities of Cuiabá and Várzea Grande in the state of Mato Grosso, providing subsidies for a better understanding of these diseases in felines. Thus, molecular and serological techniques were applied in blood and serum samples from felines from different localities of both municipalities, with the purpose of describing the species of circulating parasites in the region. |
