Resumo: | The aim of this research is to study some aspects of Homer's Odyssey reception in the field of Visual Arts, specifically Fine Arts and Cinema. We analysed the visuallity inside the poem and how the poet stimulates plastic imagination trough visible and invisible images. About Fine Arts, we investigated the Cyclops iconography at ancient sculptures and paintings, the relationship with the Homeric epic and the way how theserepresentations had incorporated multiple cultural references. In the area of Cinema, we made critical comments about two films by important contemporary film-makers, Contempt by Jean Luc Godard and Ulysses Gaze by Theo Angelopoulos, that had established dialogues with Homer and revealled new points of view about Odyssey. Then, we analysed some concepts related to the Intersemiotic Translation and to the Aesthetic Tradition, in the aim to demonstrate how the translations works could offer to the artists one very rich field of expression and creativity. In this sense, we proposed one reformulation of the Homeric Question, suggesting that it could be mainly focussed by the point of view of the poems reception |
