Resumo: This study seeks to characterize the profiles of female adolescent (ages 15 to 19), living in Brazilian macro-regions in the years 1991, 2000 and 2010. More specifically, it is intended to a) establish profiles of Brazilian adolescents for the aforementioned years according to a list of variables of household structure, types of intra-household interpersonal relationships and their social roles and, through these, b) identify similarities and differences observed over time between adolescents with at least one child born alive (adolescent mothers) and those who have been reported as never having had a child born alive (non-mothers). The 1991, 2000, and 2010 Brazilian Demographic Censuses were used for the study, and the technique of the Latent Class Analysis (LCA) was used to define the profiles. The results suggest that over the years teenage pregnancy has become less associated with leaving the home of origin or engaging in a consensual union or formal marriage. In addition, teenage unions became more associated with remaining at the parental home and adolescent mother increased their chances of staying out of the workforce, married or unmarried. Furthermore, returning to or even staying in the home of origin seemed to have become more acceptable after the end of a relationship or after an early pregnancy that was not followed by a union.
