The Norma Regulamentadora no10 Segurança em instalações e serviços em eletricidade NR 10(Regulatory Standard no10 - Safety facilities and services in electricity - NR 10) issued by the Ministry of Labor and Employment in its last revision in 2004, has required significant changes in the Brazilian industrial environment. This Norm aims to adopt control measures andpreventive systems to ensure safety and health of workers and focuses, in addition to the electrical aspects, the additional risks of other types that compose theworking environment of the employee. The NR 10 provides requirements for the management area, the technical area, the administrative area, the security area, covering issues of broad impact in our facilities and working practices. The actions of the Ministry of Labour and Employment as a supervisory body have focused intensely onmanufacturing facilities. What is the situation with regard to security issues of an academic environment where the use of electricity is needed? The NR 10 is valid into this environment? Changes are needed in our facilities, practices and working procedures? If yes, what is the meaning of these changes? What needs to change? How to start an adequacy work of the NR 10 in an academic laboratory? What better way of academic society collaborates in disseminating, knowledge, understanding and practice of the different requirements of NR10? This Masters Dissertation aims to answer questions of this nature, contributing to the encouragement of cultural and behavioral change imposedby NR 10 to our society.
