Resumo: | The present study has the aim to approach the literary work of Cecília Meireles and the dialogue that this work established with India. Also, it is shown how this relations between the author and hindu tradition contributed to the formation of the aesthetical project of Cecilia Meireles. This project can settle other fundamental principles to the Brazilian modernist movement, which is, until today, centered in the ideas of Mario and Oswald de Andrade. The work that Cecília Meireles produced, either in prose or in poetry is affected by the hindu tradition, since her early books, and this is the heart of this thesis. The conferences Cecilia wrote about Indian personalities and the literature course she taught in 1937 show there is a literary project that converge to the ancient traditions (especially the Indian). Therefore, the work of Cecilia Meireles can represent a great contribution to reconsider the modernist period in Brazil based on an amplified view. |
