Resumo: The main goal of this work is to evaluate the behavior and strength of astructural system of steel-concrete composite slabs after the concrete curing, based on Partial Shear Connection Method. This method is an alternative to the m k method and it is based on analytical model similar to composite beams using shear connectors. This method allows to determine the shear- bond interaction degree at the steel - concrete interface, allowing a better understanding of steel deck ductile behavior, the design of more performed embossments and the usage of larger spam. In order to do this, were used the results of a program of laboratory tests, developed by RODRIGUES & LAVALL (2005), where was adopted the Steel DECk 60 manufactured by USIMINAS. These laboratory tests were developed in order to identify and to evaluate the several parameters that affect the global characteristics of composite systemstrength. This test program was based on a series of 12 models one-way single spam, submitted to bending and followed the most important international recommendations about this subject. The analysis of results for the composite slab system during all loading stages until its failure was carried out basing on load x end-slip relation, load x midspan deflection relation and load steel strain relation, which allowed to understand the behavior and failure mode of the composite system, namely shear-bond failure. Keeping this in mind, the objective is to establish criteria and to determine analytical expressions for thedesign of the load carrying capacity of this failure mode through the m - kmethod and Partial Shear Connection Method, which are recommended by EUROCODE (1993). Finally, the expressions used for the composite slabs design have been presented. The application in practical examples allowed to define a comparative analysis between these two design methods for evaluating the resistance to the longitudinal shear.
