Resumo: Composite slabs are formed by profiled steel sheetings with trapezoidal or reentrant section, fitted in each other at the edges and covered with concrete. These profiled steel sheetings are cold formed and have special characteristics like embossments and lengthwise stiffeners. There is a great difference between the national market and the international one. There are few kinds of profiled steel sheetings available in the national one market and this construction system is still used in a reduced number of edifications. On the other hand, there are many profiled steel sheetings and manufactures in the international market, in addition to a consolidation of this process in the civil construction. It is a important to know the factors which influence the structural behavior of composite slabs and also, to determine the efficiency of the most representative kinds of composite slabs in the international market and to comparative study of some models, may be helpful in the development of new kinds of profiled steel sheetings to be manufactured in Brazil. The aims of this job are a theoretical study of the factors which influence the structural behavior of the composite slabs and a comparative study of some profiled steel sheetings according to the theoretical studies.
