Resumo: This study aims to understand what the dialogue established between non-rural television narratives and young Brazilian rural. Preferred themes and characters emerge as the media choices of young people surveyed, considering a rural setting marked by the relationship with the urban that is the reference and the possibility of migration, which influences the lives of young people in the process of becoming individuals on uprooting the city. Significant elements of the narratives chosen dialogue both with the values that make sense in the experience of family life and with the experience of being young in the field. We work with young people in the last year of high school in a rural school. We chose the method of discussion group associated with the use of questionnaires to identify, what draws more attention in the media, the media narrative of provocations and stimuli that make speaking participants. At the end, we see a picture of preferences for genres, formats, themes and characters that point to ideas, perspectives and meanings supported the justification of the choices. We believe that communication processes stimulated by media content engage the affections and practices of young people in rural areas, especially those focused on his relationship with the urban world and the possibilities of migration. The dialogue of the non-rural narrative constitutes an achievement for the subjects, considering the importance for rural people's own access to information in order to reduce their isolation. Any kind of narrative to establish a dialogue with a young audience who submitted his life to improving life project in the city already participates in a process of conductive conditions in the process of being, associated to both senses of this emergency as the existential change a rootless life in the city.
