Resumo: This work aspects of the colonial economy of Maranhão relationships, with emphasis on the credit established by the territorial space comprising the Captaincy of Maranhão in the second half of the 18th century (1751 – 1795), context characterized by a set of reforms conceived by the Marquês de Pombal, which will boost the economy of this region and insert it into the Atlantic market. Thus, the relatinships that were established from these subjects are considered from an internal perspective, within the Captaincy itself, and externally through the Captaincy itself, and externally through the Atlantic Equatorial conections, which connected Maranhão with other territories. Therefore, it seeks to draw a parallel between the interpretations of classical and contemporary historiography, highlighting the perspectives of analyses and the new perspectives that have been launched about the economy of América Lusa.
