Resumo: The objective of the present study is to analyze the challenges experienced by Geography teachers in the final years of elementary school in the municipal public network of Imperatriz-MA, when they assume school activities with the mediation of digital platforms, during the pandemic of the new Coronavirus. Thus, the following problematizing questions were constructed, which were intended to explain the reality of schools and the profile of Geography teachers in the final years of elementary school in the municipal public network of Imperatriz-MA, during the period of social isolation due to to the new Coronavirus pandemic. The characterization of the pedagogical practices of Geography teachers and what alternatives were used by these teachers in the teaching-learning process, during the new Coronavirus pandemic, and thus investigate the challenges that were experienced and other possibilities used by these teachers, when taking on the activities schoolchildren with the mediation of digital platforms, during the pandemic. Therefore, these questions were important as they contributed to directing the paths taken during the research and which better guided us to obtain answers to the proposed objectives. Methodologically, this is an exploratory and descriptive research, whose approach is qualitative, which uses semi- structured interviews and document analysis, as data production instruments, applied to ten Geography teachers who work in the municipal public network of Imperatriz-MA, at Pole II Bacuri. From the point of view of the theoretical framework, dialogue was held with Alfino (2019), Pacheco (2020), Júnior (2020), Silva (2019), Santos (2020) and Alves (2020), among others, who helped us to reflect on the Teaching of Geography and teaching practices mediated by Digital Information and Communication Technologies (TDIC), their real conditions and adversities of application in the teaching-learning process, especially during the pandemic of the new Coronavirus. The data showed that teachers recognize the importance of using TDICs in teaching Geography in public schools in Imperatriz, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. But they also recognize that they are inserted in an educational reality where there are many challenges to be faced. It was verified that there were initiatives, on the part of the municipal government, directed to the education system, in this period, with the intention of guaranteeing the best development of the teaching- learning process, but these did not have the desired effect. For teachers, schools need greater investment and government attention in their structure and equipment, which has contributed to further weaken the pedagogical work of Geography teachers.
