This project is intended to demonstrate the relationship between Literature and Theology in Moacyr Scliar's work Manual of the solitary passion. Is known that this relationship is old and perceived in the writings of Dante Alighieri (1265), Gil Vicente (1465), and Father Antônio Vieira (1608) among others. From the 20th century onwards, authors such as Erich Auerbach, Jack Miles, Haroldo de Campos, Robert Alter, Northrop Flye, Harold Bloom, and Antônio Magalhães became interested in the literary aspects of the Bible. Currently, the number of works interested in approaching the biblical text from the theories and techniques of literary analysis is growing which contributes to a deep and creative reading of this text, including the theological examination, of what literary theory can offer as resources to analyze its form and content. This work seeks to trace the paths that favor the approximation between Literature and Theology, aiming to understand these two areas of knowledge and investigate the contributions that one can offer to the other. Therefore, is it sought to approach the historical process, the affinities, and the research methods between Literature and Theology, from the writer Moacyr Scliar's relationship with the Bible, the Jewish culture that influences his works, and the individual and collective memories of the Hebrew people present in the romance. To do so, the connection between the novel Manual of passion solitary and chapter 38 of Genesis is approached, in the light of the intertextuality produced by Midrash, a Jewish genre of reading and interpretation of the biblical text, and parody, as a way of reconstructing the text with language contemporary, subverting the original text. And so, an approach from theological anthropology to theological aspects of the novel is carried out and promotes a reflection on the condition of the human being in the face of issues such as death, homosexuality, suicide, masturbation, and the existential problem of the human being and present Tamar's convictions in the face of a patriarchal society. Finally, it is understood that the dialogue between Literature and Theology is possible in Moacyr Scliar’s novel as a “theological place”, recreating the saga of Judah and Tamar (Gn 38) under a literary view from the parody.
