Beautiful, slim and young are some of the essential requirements for the body today. This research aims to reflect, from a discursive perspective on the relationship body / beauty set by the practices of beauty conveyed in print. Our study is based on the assumptions of Discourse Analysis of the French line (AD), more precisely, by the work of philosopher Michel Foucault (2002, 2004, 2006). For analysis we selected a diverse corpus of utterances / images that serve the context of producing visible and utterable on the body today. We use the foucaultinas notions of discipline, power, truth and knowledge to understand how the aesthetic ideals were built into our society. At first we tried to address the historical continuities and ruptures of the ideas of body and beauty. Then we emphasize the change of perspective that the medicalscientific knowledge about the body, and from this, we analyze the functioning of the mechanisms of power in the constitution of new subjectivities.
