Resumo: The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of peri-implant diseases by analyzing clinical and radiographic parameters of full and partially edentulous patients treated with dental implants in the Dental Clinic at the University of Maringá. A total of 155 patients with 532 implants in occlusal function for at least 1 year were evaluated clinically and radiographically by calibrated examiners. Plaque index (PI), probing depth (PD), clinical attachment levels (CAL), bleeding on probing (BOP), suppuration on probing (SUP) and radiographic bone loss (BL) were analyzed. The data were statistically analyzed by student test-t, chi-square and multiple linear regression analysis (p < 0.05). The prevalence of peri-implantitis and mucositis was 34,8% and 59,4%, respectively. Statistical analysis showed significant difference in PI between healthy and those with peri-implant disease. PD, CAL, BOP and BL were statistically different among healthy implants and those with either mucositis or peri-implantitis. PI was statistically associated with the presence of peri-implant diseases and CAL had a great impact on the diagnosis of peri-implantitis. The results of this study showed high prevalence of peri-implant disease.
