In this work we study the Arf semigroup and the Arf ring associated with an irreducible algebroid curve, or shortly, a branch. The multiplicity sequence of a branch, obtained by the canonical resolution process, is an important information about the curve. However, the resolution process is a hard work in general. We present, in this work, a method to obtain the multiplicity sequence of a branch from its parameterization. This method is based on the concepts of characters, Arf semigroup and Arf ring
