Resumo: This dissertation investigates the challenges faced by nursing professionals amid the pandemic - COVID-19 -, and how this scenario influences the perception of their Quality of Working Life (QWL). The importance of considering such factors at the organizational level is due to the relevance of these elements when humanity faces a pandemic reality and Brazil, above all, faces constant and arduous challenges. The pandemic has affected several instances in the global context. It has demanded new logistics, new protocols, strategic plans, interpersonal relationships, aspects considered essential for the quality of working life. Thus, QWL contemplates the relevant aspects for the individual, who is the center of the entire strategy, to be contemplated with the organizational support that may result in their quality of life (TIECHER; DIEHL, 2017). The biopsychosocial and organizational dimensions are pillars in searching for interventions in the work environment (FRANCE, 2004). Therefore, they have relevance in the constitution of QWL. In this global scenario, the research looks specifically to a professional context assessed as essential in facing and treating the pandemic, which is the role of nursing professionals. These professionals are considered “front line” concerning assisting hospitalized victims diagnosed with the disease COVID-19. Analyzing how these professionals, already historically considered vital to hospital work, and submitted to a class struggle for better performance conditions, is pertinent to assess their perceptions as citizens and as protagonists of essential work in coping and treating the pandemic in these health units. The research will be carried out in a private hospital located in the city of Guarapuava-PR. The results obtained may indicate the use of them to establish means that allow new perspectives on the working conditions of these professionals, the organizational and institutional strategies for planning infrastructure and logistics, and suggestions for strategies aimed at managing people in these workspaces.
