Resumo: This study consists of an analysis of labor relations between employees and employers of Companhia Swift do Brasil and Argentina in the 1940s. It used as sources the labor lawsuits filed in the Labor Court of Brazil and the judgments handed down by the Supreme Court of Justice of Buenos Aires. The processes and sentences were studied from the identification of thematic categories that are related to the reason for the complaints registered by the slaughterhouse workers in both countries, they are: "Dismissal", "Salary Reduction", Illness Salary" and " Work Accidents†. The demands were analyzed in view of the objectives of the claims and the arguments used by workers, employers and the State in the courts to support the allegations and decisions rendered during the processes. Therefore, the use of specific legislation was identified, related to the reasons for workers' complaints, as a way to legitimize the demands and justify the employers' actions.
