Resumo: This thesis defends the Study of Religion as a reference subject for the formation of Religious Education teachers and the Study of Religion and secular worldviews in public schools in Brazil and Germany, with the main objective of highlighting its referential adoption in its own terms, as an autonomous subject designed and organized by an international thought collective, which throughout its history has produced a unique and shared style of thinking among this collective. Thus, considering the Brazilian and German empirical reality about the adoption of Study of Religion for this purpose, based on bibliographic research and analysis of official documents, we sought to highlight the advances and challenges that the subject faces for its referential consolidation. The institutional trajectory and development in each of these countries gain specificities and singularities that define it as a product of the historicalsocial thinking of their respective thought collective, according to the Flecktian theory (Fleck, 2010). In this sense, despite the referential adoption of the Study of Religion, this does not mean to say that its own contributions forged in its international history are considered, especially when the collective and the style of thought that lead it are external to it
