Resumo: This work presents Material Culture as an approach for the study of religions, later named Material Religion. Such method focuses on material aspects of religions, whatever is perceived by the senses, like clothing, food, music, dance, images, objects, architecture, etc. This approach comes from twentieth century theoretical strings originated in an archaeology interested in the agency of objects over humans, in anthropology of senses which incorporates sensibility as a study resource and in materialistic philosophies that place body, perception and the world of things in the center. According to such approaches, each religion has a specific mode of shaping their worshipers, not because of their doctrinal values, but throughout sensorially transmitted contents by body practices such as rituals, contact with objects, environments, consumption or restriction of foods, exposition to music or specific sounds as well as to images
