Resumo: |
The present research aims to investigate the novel O Filho da Mãe (2009), by the writer Bernardo Carvalho, through the bias of interarts dialogue, highlighting the relationship between literature and cinema, through the incorporation of cinematographic language by the literary text. The hypothesis raised in this study is that the novel – in dialogue with the contemporary context, in which different artistic languages converge – using different narrative techniques, which include the game with the narrative focus, the lexical and stylistic choices provoke a confluence with the filmic narrative, revealing resources such as zoom in and zoom out, flashback and flashforward, lighting, soundtrack and narrative suspension, via literary writing. Bibliographical, exploratory, and descriptive, the research is organized in four chapters. Initially, we present the life and work of the author Bernardo Carvalho, his professional and academic career and literary production, in order to contribute to the systematization of his bibliographic path. In the second chapter, we bring the debate about the concept of intermediality and the importance of interarts studies in current Brazilian literature, a debate that is necessary to understand the analysis undertaken of the corpus. In the third chapter, we identify the similarities between the literature and the cinema, in order to, in the last chapter, focus on the novel O Filho da Mãe, analyzing how, via literary writing, Bernardo Carvalho incorporates, in his novel, elements of cinematographic syntax. The research focuses, in particular, on the reflections of Claus Clüver and Irina Rajewsky, with regard to interarts dialogue; in the studies of Marcos H. Camargo in relation to cinematographic syntax; and in Marc Vernet, Robert Stam, Jacques Aumont et al. regarding the relationship between literature and cinema. The research is justified by contributing to studies on intermediality in contemporary Brazilian literature, especially regarding the relationship between literature and cinema in the production of Bernardo Carvalho, an unavoidable voice in our contemporary literature |
