Resumo: The work aims to analyze the aesthetic and narrative mutations that the western cinematographic genre suffered in the 1960s from three works that have very similar narratives: Yojimbo (1961) by Akira Kurosawa, Per un Pugno di Dollari (1964) by Sergio Leone and Ruy Guerra's Of Gods and the Undead (1970). And in this way to demonstrate the potential of the cinematographic genre as an object of studies for the interpretation of the history of cinema. To carry out such an analysis, the work will seek to define the main characteristics that constituted the genre of his birth from the 1900s to the 1960s, based on the conceptions of André Bazin and Jean Louis Rieupeyrout. Based on the definition of the genre based on the new French criticism, the work will be dedicated to studying the influence that Hollywood cinema has on Akira Kurosawa's work and how this filmmaker has re-signified the Japanese genre Jidaigeki (film genre dedicated to exploring Japan feudal as the main environment for dramatic events) when establishing a dialogue with the North American Western, the film that will serve as the basis for this comparison will be Yojimbo. Then the work will be dedicated to studying the revisionism of the “western spaghetti” by working on Leone's film Per un Pugno di Dollari, which was an unofficial remake by Yojimbo. Finally, the work will analyze the deconstruction of the genre and narratives of the two films already mentioned when studying the work Os Deuses e Os Mortos by Ruy Guerra, and from this confrontation explore the reactions of Brazilian cinemanovism against commercial cinema produced in countries of first World
